Machining Week 9

As we start seeing the end of the semester near, we've been reflecting on our work over the semester and what we wish to complete by the end of classes. Overall, we are very happy with the progress we've made as engineers in this class! We can now take a design and feel confident in putting together a manufacturing plan. We don't need perfectly sized stock or perfectly set-up CNCs, since we can completely start from scratch and make something we are proud of!

This week in lab, Rachel continued working on the threadless nut. Sreya and Sachin spent most of the time CADding and CAMming, mainly due to past mistakes that were discovered in lab. Although it was a little irksome, it was a great learning experience, and we are excited to hit the ground running next week.

We will hopefully grow to love the old HASS in the next few weeks, as we shower it with all our CAMs!

P.s. Here's a picture of the current x-axis assembly:

Action Items for Next Lab:

- We've finished most of our motor mounts and the bearing block mounts, so the next step is the make the x-axis plate

- We'll be doing the CAM for the x-axis plate this weekend and will be machining the plate coming Monday.

The goal now is to have a finished x-axis assembly by the end of class on Monday.
